Roy Cormack is a young footballer who has the same dream as every footballer, to play at the highest level of football and become the best footballer on the planet. Millions of kids all want to play football but sadly some couldn't. Roy Cormack joined the youth set-up of Manchester United at the age of 10, and Sir Alex Ferguson has tipped him with a bright future ahead of him. However, little Roy's ambition faded away when his family moved a year later, along with Roy himself to Burton in Staffordshire. His family revived Roy's career by letting him join local club Burton Albion, but Roy will feel neglected after his big dream of playing for Manchester United one day faded away and he has now joined a Conference side. Forward 5 years later, Roy Cormack has excelled and matured into a brilliant player. Only 16, he signed his first professional contract for Burton Albion. Manager Ben Robinson says that Cormack is a player with Premier League quality, and he believes that sooner or later the big clubs will come knocking. But right now Roy Cormack has a target, to show everyone what he is capable of. Der Beitrag wurde von nicharit bearbeitet: 19.04.2009 - 18:01 |

16 years old Roy Cormack started for Burton Albion in their first match against Stevenage Borough, playing just behind striker Craig Aldred. He however became an unlikely hero, scoring an equaliser to clinch a 1-1 draw for his club. It was more glory for the young midfielder, who profits from his position in the attacking midfield role when the youngster curled in a delightful 1st. The midfielder however didn’t stop there and went on to bag in his 3rd of the season with a fine volley. Cormack continued his rich form of goal after netting yet again for the 3rd match in the row, this time only 46 seconds into the game had Cormack broken the deadlock. It was a fairytale start for the 16 years old, and rightfully so he received his first honour as he was voted Player of the Month for August. His stunning introduction to football has led to clubs from higher divisions starting to take interest in the 16 years old, after only 2 months did he penned in his first professional contract. Late on in September he added another 2 to his goal tally, taking it to 6 and plus taking Burton Albion top for the first time this season. Despite a promising start, Roy Cormack and Burton Albion suffered 3 winless games but still remains top after their nearest rivals fail to capitalise. Cormack snatched yet another brace at the start of October against Weymouth, which leaves him with 8 goals after 13 games. Burton Albion did progress in the cup competitions, knocking out Eastbourne in the Johnstone Paint Trophy before shocking League One side Hereford United with dramatic win in a penalty shootout. It couldn’t have been better for Cormack, who continued to bang in goals for fun and by the end of November he already has scored 12 goals in all competition. By then host of clubs from higher divisons are starting to take interest into the 16 years old. |

Roy Cormack celebrated his 17th birthday on the 26th of December when he was named captain for the Johnstone Paint Trophy quarter-final match against Histon. Although his side lost, Cormack gave a very mature performance and did came close to scoring when he struck the post from outside the box. Histon though was punished for knocking Burton out of the Johnstone Paint Trophy a week later with Cormack hitting in his 12th league goal of the season. Burton Albion fans braced themselves for the January transfer window. The biggest transfer stories would be Roy Cormack’s future. It was Birmingham City who officially had their bid of £200,000 accepted early on, only for it to collapse after the two side couldn’t agree on the basic deal. Birmingham City bowed out of the race, and ultimately it was Bolton Wanderers, Crystal Palace, QPR, Leicester City, Reading and Watford who had their bids accepted. On the transfer deadline day, Roy Cormack stated that he is definitely leaving, and it looked as if QPR won the war. However, the tide changed when suddenly Chelsea swooped in to make a £400,00 bid for the midfielder. Roy Cormack had a changed in heart and quickly agreed the deal. Several hours later he was confirmed as a Chelsea player. ![]() As Roy Cormack realises, it is a start to his exciting football career |

The Time of Crisis Roy Cormack arrived at the time of crisis at Chelsea, where the Blues are 13th and 12 points adrift from the top. They are also 6 points above relegation and the future of Luiz Felipe Scolari looks doubtful after the Brazilian failed to make an impact following his arrival in the summer. Scolari described Roy Cormack as Chelsea’s next best things, but also stated that Cormack needs to adjust to the difference if he is to become the star player in the upcoming seasons. Roy Cormack trained with the reserves for the first week at his club, but was later called up to the first team squad after impressing in training. His hard-working rate leads to Scolari praising the young midfielder’s attitude, and promised that he will soon make his debut at the age of 17. But that day never comes. Scolari was soon sacked after 3 winless games which sends Chelsea further down the table as Chelsea now find the challenge of getting into Europe extremely hard. Guus Hiddink replaces him and Roy Cormack will hope that Hiddink would rate him as highly as Scolari has. |

Thankfully Hiddink did. Roy Cormack was included on the bench in the FA Cup Last Sixteen against Southampton, but did not make the debut he has long wanted as Chelsea ran out as worthy winners in a thrilling 3-2 victory, where they fought down from 2-0 down to win the match. Cormack continued to be excluded from the league matches with Hiddink insisting that he wants his experienced players to guide Chelsea to success. Chelsea however collapse in their Champions League Last Sixteen match against Werder Bremen. They were humiliated at Stamford Bridge as they lost 0-4, a match at which Roy Cormack and millions of Chelsea fans witnessed. Chelsea will need a miracle if they are to get into the quarter-finals. Forward next week, Werder Bremen now hosts Chelsea in the 2nd leg. And to the delight of Cormack, he was named on the bench for the 2nd time this season. It seemed unlikely though that he would make his debut here, with Chelsea needing at least 4 goals in order to restore their Champions League dream. However, Michael Ballack suffered an injury and with John Obi Mikel already replaced Michael Essien, Roy Cormack was the only option on the bench. So in the 74th minute, Roy Cormack stepped on the pitch as he marked his debut in the Chelsea shirt, in one of the most famous cup competition of the world. At the end, Chelsea only managed 1 goal and it was not enough as Chelsea crashed out of the Champions League. Roy Cormack did not make any standouts contribution but have tasted the quality of football at its highest levels and like many youngsters, he will be hungry for more. Despite their early exit from the Champions League, Chelsea continued to cruise in te FA Cup as they beat Rochdale 2-0 courtesy of Didier Drogba’s double. Roy Cormack also managed to notched up his 2nd appearance in the Chelsea shirt when he made a 15 minute cameo appearance and Chelsea will play against Middlesbrough in the semi-final, where the winners will contest for the FA Cup with either Liverpool or Reading. Roy Cormack later made his dream debut in the Premier League, coming off the bench in the last 20 minutes against Newcastle. It was a day that he had long waited for, however it was his mistake towards the end which led to Newcastle scoring a dramatic late goal. Cormack failed to clear a corner when his weak header goes straight to Michael Owen, who fires Newcastle in front with 2 minutes to go. But Chelsea had the last laugh at the end when Didier Drogba bundles in a late late equaliser to rescue a point, relieving Cormack’s pressure. Guus Hiddink continued on Chelsea’s revival as the Blues climbed further and further up the table and with 6 more games to go they are only 4 points adrift of a European place. And even more splendid Chelsea progress into the finals of the FA Cup after beating Middlesbrough in a thrilling 4-3 victory. Dider Drogba scores an emphatic hat-trick to edge past Middlesbrough. Liverpool crushed Reading 5-0 in the other semi-final tie to seal a passage to Wembley and it will be the Reds against the Blues. While Chelsea moves up the table, Cormack continued to be excluded from the squad. Hiddink hinted that Cormack is unlikely to feature again this season but will expect Cormack to continue training hard. Roy will now have to watch on, as Chelsea approaches their last part of the season and with 5 league games and a cup final to go, it will be an exciting one. |

Luiz Felipe Scolari was sacked 3 months ago after Chelsea slipped down to the bottom half of the table, and Chelsea turns to Guus Hiddink. Since then Chelsea has revived and managed to snatch the last Champions League place, a spot that Liverpool has been covering for the last 4 games. 5 straight wins in the run-ins meant that the Chelsea fans will see Champions League football again at Stamford Bridge. Roy Cormack though failed to notch up any more appearances before the end of the season and although he was included in the FA Cup final squad he couldn't convince Hiddink to bring him on. But there was joy for Chelsea when they beat Liverpool 3-1 at Wembley, thus ending their season on a high. It was Roy Cormack's first ever silverware, but Cormack will want to win a silverware without him sitting out of the squad. ![]() Still only 17 though, Cormack will look forward to Chelsea's next season where he will hope to make more contribution for the Blues. What he could only do now is to work and train hard and sooner or later his chance will come. |

Big Spenders Roy Cormack arrives in time for Chelsea's pre-season after a resting summer, and he will be eager to develop to play a bigger role this season. Roy Cormack took part in most of Chelsea's pre-season, mostly playing with the 2nd string squad as Guus Hiddink hopes to increase the player’s fitness until the start of the season. Chelsea though was keen not to repeat their slump last year and completed a transfer of what was to be the biggest transfer this summer. Spaniard star Iniesta was convinced to make a move to Stamford Bridge in a £30m deal. Eric Abidal also made the switch from Barcelona for £6m. But Guus Hiddink sold Paulo Ferreira to Blackburn Rovers, while Salomon Kalou moved to AC Milan for £23m. ![]() The arrival of Iniesta will limit Roy Cormack’s chance, but however Cormack will be pleased to be able to work with such a brilliant player. Iniesta showed great potential in the pre-season, scoring 3 goals and surely cementing himself straight into the squad. Der Beitrag wurde von nicharit bearbeitet: 29.04.2009 - 18:05 |

Second String Roy Cormack, excited about the new season, was stunned when Guus Hiddink personally went to tell him that he will spend the season playing for the reserves. Roy Cormack however stormed out after hearing it, raging Hiddink enough to fine him for an immature behaviour. It was a piece of information that Cormack would not have wanted to hear but however realises the harsh reality of football. He is still only 17 and he has to be patient. He later apologised to Hiddink and promises that he will train hard in the reserves. Now Cormack cannot dwell on Hiddink’s decision. If he is to make it to the top, he needs to fight for it. He now knows that he does not have the ability to play yet but he has the potential to. |

Life in the Reserves As expected, Roy Cormack missed out on the Community Shield tie against Premier League champions Sunderland, who shocked the whole England and the world by winning the Premier League in style. And they will continue on that feat when Hiddink’s side slumped to a 0-1 defeat, courtesy of Djibril Cisse’s strike which resulted in Sunderland picking up the Community Shield. Not the best of starts for Hiddink’s men. But Roy cannot keep his eyes on the first team any longer. The reserves have a vital season opener against West Ham and it will be the first taste of second string football for Cormack. But it will be strange for him because it is not Hiddink who takes control now. It is Paul Clement, who will try and control Cormack for the rest of the season. Clement carries a rather tough training schedule in order to bring up his players to their potential, but also talks to them and listens to the players. The one thing that he has is faith in everyone, including Cormack. Clement wanted Cormack to take the Chelsea reserves team as a stepping stone to the top. Cormack starts in his first reserve game against West Ham and they won 1-0. But it was a rather surprise to see Roy Cormack not shining, with the 17 years old having a very disappointing game. He was substituted off on half time. However, he returned in the next game against Wigan Athletic, where they lost 2-3 after Wigan struck a late late winner. A 1-3 defeat to a strong Arsenal side followed that, before Scott Sinclair's solo goal earns the Chelsea reserves their 2nd win in their match against Sunderland. But the week after that, Roy Cormack finally shone. The match against Doncaster Rover's reserves saw the game locked up at 1-1 as the time ticks towards full time. But Lee Sawyer delivers an inviting cross for Roy Cormack, who showed a unique skill with a lovely volley to secure the win for the Chelsea reserves in the last minute. Cormack sparkled a big celebration with his first goal for the Blues, and although the goal was in the second string, it meant a lot to him. That late win left Chelsea at 8th after 5 games with 9 points. So far it has been strange for Cormack. His experience in the reserves has been mixed but now he hopes to get more goals. |

"Roy, I want to try you as a striker"
That was what Clement said before Roy Cormack's match against Liverpool. Roy has been playing at central midfield for his whole life, and has also opted to play just behind the striker as well as an attacking midfield. However, Clement wanted to try Cormack at the front, after being impressed with Cormack's goal last week. He now faces an unfamiliar role as he partners Scott Sinclair. At the start of the match, it was cleared that he struggled but 30 minutes into the game he shone as he terrorises the Liverpool defence with ease. He struck the crossbar with a header in the 43rd minute in the match which Liverpool outclassed Chelsea 4-0. Roy Cormack however enjoyed his new role, and Paul Clement will be very happy Roy excelled in his new position. Der Beitrag wurde von nicharit bearbeitet: 03.05.2009 - 16:23 |

Great news. I have managed to retrieve the save files back and this diary is now up and running again
A Striker is Born ![]() And Cormack registered his 2nd goal in his 2nd appearance as a striker. After his side had gone behind 0-3 against a strong Newcastle side, Roy Cormack popped up to curl in a consolation goal to beat Tim Krul, who had denied Cormack with 3 excellent saves earlier on in the game. Nevertheless Cormack continued to benefit from his new role and another goal in the 4-2 victory over Middlesbrough followed this. Cormack however then went on a dry goal spell in November but scored two goals in December, including a last minute winner against Aston Villa to win it 2-1, to end the first half of the season with 5 goals in the second strings, while being the ever presence in the team with 17 appearances. Paul Clement praised Cormack for his fabulous contribution, stating that he is ready for action at the first team. But Guus Hiddink, who has took Chelsea to the top of the table, refused to drag Cormack into the first team just yet. |

Loan Alert Roy Cormack seems to have a special talent. Cormack can use either his foot comfortably and it is hard to see which one is the weaker one. He has shown that when in one match he delivers a free kick with his right leg and 2 minutes later he delivers one with his left. Paul Clement described him as being unique. Later on, Guus Hiddink and Paul Clement came up to an agreement saying it would be best for Cormack to go on loan. Cormack, now 18, accepted and was immediately on the loan list for the January transfer window. To a big surprise, Manchester United came knocking. Sir Alex Ferguson stated that he wanted to sign Cormack back to Old Trafford, and Cormack couldn’t be more delightful. Cormack was highly rated at Manchester United when he was there but due to some family reasons he was forced to quit and move away, where he learn his trades with Burton Albion. However, Hiddink insisted that he won’t release his talented youngster to a rival club and Cormack’s dream move back to Manchester United has fell through. Cormack, who had spend some time as a youngster in Manchester United, will now have to look elsewhere. It was left to 3 clubs to battle for Cormack’s signature. Wigan, Hull and Doncaster Rovers all had their offers accepted. The three clubs lacked firepower and it is now left for Cormack to design where he will spend his 2nd half of the season. |
